Skilled Medical Support Practice Consultant with 23+ Years' Experience

I have 23 years’ experience in medical business administration, clinical work, medico-legal work, accounts and medical practice management. 

I started my career in the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in the Integrated Back Unit as the secretary and within a year I was promoted to management of the Unit from an administration level, in my 4 years the Unit grew and expanded to include the Rehabilitation Department and the NHS organised for me to go on a Business Management course, which helped enormously with my development and knowledge. I went on to supervise the secretarial support for the whole Unit and also was asked to take part in meetings groups e.g. to facilitate a smooth patient journey through the NHS, (e.g. like the Patient Information Group where we worked on patient information and leaflets), updating policies and procedures.

I learnt so much from my time working on the NHS and managing the unit, secretaries, patient journey, and implementing policies and procedures for the smooth running of the department.

In 2000, I left the RNOH to spend a year in Australia and got a job working in the Mater Misericordiae Hospital in North Sydney where I was given the opportunity to stay for 2 years (on a sponsorship programme) however, I did not accept this and instead decided to come back to London and went into practice management in the private sector in 2001. 

Predominantly my background is administration work in spinal practices but in 2018, I decided to branch out to more freelance work and since then I have been working with doctors specialising in different areas of medicine and this has broadened my knowledge and experience and has meant that I can work to my full potential, I love what that brings with regard to putting my key strengths to good use, to enable growth and development for me and all medical practices I am involved in. One of my key strengths is problem solving and I love a challenge.  

In 2018, I completed a Coaching for Business & Personal Development course with Barefoot Coaching and with my new found skills, knowledge and experience in this field, it has further enhanced my skills in medical administration, problem solving, communication etc. 

Organized and Efficient

Patricia has been part of my professional life over the last 10 years, as she has worked for surgeons I have anaesthetised for, I have dealt with Patricia on a weekly basis and I have always been very impressed with her organisation, efficiency, tact and good humour. She has now decided to diversify her role working with several Consultants in an administration capacity, in order to enhance and modernise their systems, and I have no doubt, with her skills, she will be successful. She has been quietly and extremely effectively invoicing my patients and dealing with my accounts, making sure I have a virtually 100% settlement rate, no mean achievement in a medical setting and something for which I am very grateful.  In short, Patricia works hard, has great personal skills including good humour and tenacity and has improved and helped to expand my practice. I recommend Patricia without reservation.
